Why my wife should never drive

March 2007
Guy runs red light - "The sun was in my eyes". Sun must have also blocked the 5 cars that went through the intersection before my wife. Wife t-bones him at 45 mph, sending one of his passengers to the hospital. Wife & child are ok. Damage to car still unknown.

December 2006
Picture the car above, only with extra damage to the rear of the vehicle. A teenager driving the FIRST day he had his license failed to see my 8-month pregnant wife completely stopped at the RED light. Oh, he also failed to notice the other 5 cars also stopped at the red light. Teenager rear-ends wife, wife in turn rear ended the car in front of her who rear ended the car in front of it (for the mathematically challenged, that's 4 cars in all). Car in front of wife: totaled. Car that hit wife: totaled. Our car: not totalled!

August 2005
Wife and I were tailing a police officer. My motto about tailing police officers: "They can't pull you over when you are behind them". Police officer slowed to a complete stop in the middle of the road. I slowed to a complete stop behind him, muttering things under my breath about "people being idiots". A guy in a jeep smashed into us and we smashed into the cop car. Again, damage to front and rear of vehicle. Jeep: totalled. Our car: not totalled.

December 2003
Wife on freeway taking car for wash (Car is 3 months old). Lady swerves into wife's lane, wife swerves into next lane. wife is t-boned, smacks the back of her head on the driver's window, and is taken to the hospital in an ambulance, requiring stitches to the back of her head. This is the only accident that was deemed wife's fault, because she should have let the lady that swerved into her lane hit her. Duh.

December 2002
This is how this all started. Wife (fiance at the time) and I were going to Taco Bell to get something to eat (1.5 miles away). After 0.3 miles, an old lady pulled out in front of us as we were going through a yellow light. Neither of us wearing seat belts, I had a little bit of room to travel in the car, but wife's head whacked the windshield, cracking the windshield and knocking her out. After her convulsions and stuff, she finally came to and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Lady's car: totaled. Truck: not totaled.

Interesting facts about car accidents:

  • Rental cars are dirty and they stink
  • Accidents are more scary if you are either pregnant or have a little baby in the car
  • Usually, accidents aren't your fault. They are the other guy's fault.
  • If you get in one car accident, you will probably get in one about every year
  • Total amount of damage for our accidents: $60K
  • You should never let your wife drive the car
  • If you see my wife, you should slow down and pull off the road to the right
